Phase 2 Hillbilly Trail Meets Hatfield McCoy Trail System

The Gateway to the ultimate trail riding adventure!

When most people think of trail riding in the Appalachian Mountains, the first place that comes to mind is Hatfield McCoy trails located in multiple counties across WV. With 1000's of acres and 11 trail heads the Hatfield McCoy Trails has grown tremendously over the past 23 years.

Where the Hatfield McCoy Trails Meets the Hillbilly Trails

Pike County KY has over a 1000 miles of trails that are mostly unmapped currently.

To really enjoy the Hillbilly Trails you can leave Matewan, WV and continue on Hwy 1056 until you reach Peter Fork Rd on your left. You will see the Blackberry Fire Dept. on your right when you make the turn onto peter fork road. You travel approximately 3 miles to the top of the mountain where you can turn left or right to hit the trail. Currently there is no maps of this section of the Hillbilly Trails as all leases have not been signed. However, you can hire a guide that can get you from Matewan WV to Dorton KY. Once you arrive at Dorton you will be required to purchase a trail permit to ride the Flatwoods section of the trail system. You are also welcome to haul your machine to the trailhead. There is ample parking and the trails are some of the toughest in the area. Don't get me wrong, you can find easy to moderate trails, but if you want to get sweaty palms and possibly break out the winch then you want to head to the flatwoods.
